Your earlier comment about Alma Jr. helping Ennis recover from his fear and self-loathing was right on target, and that's the same kind of groundwork that his reunion with Mrs. Twist is putting down. Ennis' being gay in a homophobic world is the root of the way he's shut himself away from human connections, but in the film, I saw that has having taken on a life of its own over the years and making that situation even worse for him than it needs to be. At this point, it's the few human connections he does have with people who truly care about him that are helping him make as much progress as he is. The awareness that Jack isn't really very far away is the other factor, but that needs interaction with the people in the physical 3-dimension world that Ennis lives in to have any good effect.

I really like this story, it is so well done. I am especially impressed with the way you are able to show us Ennis's thoughts in such a realistic way. I see growth in Ennis as well as sadness and grief and it is fascinating. Please write more chapters very soon!
