Ennis took extra care driving, as always when he had the horse trailer behind him. He’d made equally careful preparations in the last few weeks, first getting time off from the foreman who didn’t take it well but grudgingly accepted his story about doing a favor for a friend; and then borrowing a tent and other camping equipment from Vickie. okay my heart has been riped out of me during Ennis' interaction with Jack's mom.

I am glad she gave him the ashes to take to Brokeback. I am wondering if Ennis will feel Jack's presense up there too

You've got me bawling again. Ever since I saw the movie,I find myself thinking like Ennis. Wondering what he would do in my situation. I'm 73 YO married to the same woman for 44 years, still very much in love with her, but I've known since I was 11 that girls didn't make much sense to me emotionally. That is until I met my woman. Just like Ennis I knew what I had to do and did it, inspite of knowing that my eyes would follow the men in a crowded room. But I never met my Jack until I was 50 YO, and I knew it could never be.

Now all I have is the fan fiction to keep me stirred up.

Keep writing, you are doing just great.

"Good. They didn’t teach us enough about the Devil in church but I did learn about righteous anger. You keep that where it belongs."

I choked up on this line-afterwards I slammed my hand down on my own desk with a loud "Hell yeah, you tell him, Mrs. Twist!" Beautiful writing. Just found it today and only now can I comment: I feel a little nervous for Ennis returning to that wonderful place.

that has to be the best-drawn, most authentic-seeming Mrs. Twist I have ever read. And the tie to the Pentecost and the pentecostal fire and the experience Jack and Ennis went through shortly after that discussion on the mountain.

The exposition of Ennis outing himself to Mrs. Twist, the glass of cola, the great attention to detail was marvelous here... and the ending punch line. Nearly unbelievable that this is your first fic.

I can't believe I never read this before. It is devastatingly beautiful. Thank you. Glad that I have so many more chapters left to read. And I'm listening to the BBM soundtrack at the same time--just the right mood. Thank you, so much.

Glad you started reading! And what a great soundtrack for a Brokeback fanfic.

Hope you like the rest of the story.
