So tomorrow I need to turn in a four page paper, take two exams, and explain to my research advisor how I designed the soil/cement/water whateverdoodle that I'm going to test over the next five months. The problem: I just finished the first draft of the paper, haven't started studying for the two exams, and never got around to designing the soil/ ( Read more... )

all that needs to be done will get done. email those professors, even if it's a snowballs chance in hell, to postpone some dates. Study/work on/ the thing that matters the most and if that is impossible to finish in time, say "fuck it" set aside $20 for the drinking you'll do later and get to finishing the things you foreseeably can.
in the morning as dawn is breaking take a shower, make/buy some coffee, do the sign of the cross and hope to god the rest of the semester will pass you. then head out the door and do the best you can.
once the torment is over, know that it's over and no matter what the out come, you always have a way of making up grades/gpa later and you'll eventually get through this because it is, it all really just is college, and in the grand scheme of things, it's not going to matter that much.
if you don't have anything else to do now, take that $20 and let a 6pack help work that mantra.

Hehehe, I got next to no sleep and managed to pull through, but the coffee thing didn't work out too well for me. I was in such a rush trying to make myself espresso and get to my second exam that I ran out the door and forgot my espresso... on the stove... and apparently while I was struggling through my unprepared for exam the handle of my stovetop espresso maker was melting and smoking, the fire alarm was going off and the entire apartment building was trying to figure out how to break in and stop it from catching on fire for real. Someone got ahold of my boyfriend and he came rushing home from work and turned off the stove so they didn't have to break the door down... No real damage was done thank goodness but I'm terrified to face my landlord now. I've never done anything that careless before. Well... at least not fire or apartment related anyway. I feel awful and I'm just now getting back to where I can start studying for the next few days worth of exams. Neeps.

But away from that, nice to hear from you!

Oh, no, the advice was good. It was the follow through on my part that was less thorough than one would have hoped...

How's your new nephew? I hope my comment wasn't offensive. He's cute and his big sister in the picture is absolutely precious. I forget that my running gag of not being kid-person doesn't exactly translate when I haven't talked to a person in quite a while.
