oh man i had the same experience...though it didn't necessarily remind me of either mcdonalds or french fries. my roommates are obsessive organic/local/raw foods consumers, but i simply can't afford to be the same way. so i wind up with mediocre honey in oatmeal...definitely not as tasty.
