My son, the poet

Yesterday evening, in a discussion of the events of the day, Teo said that he had written a song, and he wanted to share it with us. ( There We Are Now )

Wow--that's pretty impressive. I'm curious as to what "the march" is. It's clearly something that can fall into and be pulled from a pit, but beyond that I don't understand that bit.

I think the "march" is like a "parade" except not so celebratory. I don't know. I didn't want to ask because I sort of like that mystery. Why are they going up the hill when the rabbits are going down? Are they chasing the rabbits? Are the rabbits chasing them? Are the rabbits running away from the march that doesn't even notice them? I have no idea.

I love the mystery of this, too. I imagine the march tumbling into the pit, one by one. (I see it as a mass noun, too.) The rabbits are busy and kindly!

The rabbits are! Though I keep getting confused with the "march hare" and "march" vs. "rabbits". :-)

This is great! Does it have a tune?

Not a tune so much as a style of chanting. Teo does a very passable imitation of Chris reading A.A. Milne poems. I think the "Yiggety Yaggety" bits are directly descended from Winnie the Pooh's "Tiddley-pom" insertions in his song for a snowy day.

Do you or Cameron want to set it to music? :-)
