My NaNo, in a nutshell, is the diary of a woman whose dead husband talks to her.

Oh, and it will hopefully be kind of funny. And yet eerie as well.

Not a ghost story, per se, but... I've already said too much. Have to save it for the word count!

I'm a hundred words ahead of my daily quota! Whoooo!

And I have a bad headache, so that's it for tonight. I'm not going where I thought I would with the story (which is ... kind of the point), but it's not hideously horrible.

I know, you're like, what the hell is NaNoWriMo? The short version, according to the NaNo PTB: "National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30."

It's going to be a long, cold winter. They're predicting at least a 50% spike in heating costs. It's ALREADY cold in the house at night, and it's not gotten below the 40s. We got a new roof last month, so we're hoping that will help. And the father-in-law is offering to help add insulation to the attic. But I predict a lot of layers in my future ( Read more... )

Whoaaaaaaaaa!

I was giddy about this premiere. I won't say anything more than "Whoa" because some people may not have seen it yet.

I'm trying to decide whether it's inspiring or paralyzing to listen to really awesome music. Songwriting is so new to me, and I just get overwhelmed by the completed product, especially when it has awesome production. It makes me feel like I'll never be able to come close, so why bother. Kind of like when I read Charming Billy by Alice McDermott. ( Read more... )
