The brown dress: finished product

Some of you may have noticed that I didn't give an update on the outcome of the brown dress sewing project (previous posts here and here). Well, I had nearly finished sewing it at the last update, and in fact had it completed in time for the wedding, when I realized two things ( Read more... )

That looks like a very fun dress to dance in!

And yeah, I get that way when I draw. Difference is I get disgusted before I finish, so I have a ton of unfinished drawings that when I look at it months or years later I go, "Hey, this wasn't bad, why did I stop?" (and all too often it's years, where I can't find the original file...)

It is fun to dance in! The overall length means that it flares out nicely, but the gathers prevent it from tripping up my feet all the time.

Sometimes I've found old stories that I've written and thought "Did I write that? Why did I stop?", but I rarely go back and finish them.

I love that dress and I feel for your last minute-ness.

It is not an event unless I have to look at himself and say 'Did you pack the kit so I can finish sewing on the buttons?'.

Because he does the major costume sewing and is all last minute like whoa. And I do the handwork bits to help him keep the projectS moving so I end up having bits aand bobs to do in the car or at the site.

Every. Time.

One of the gathers came undone when I was just about to head out the door, so among the many things in my travel bag (book, fuzzy slippers, ghillies, a banana) was the thread, scissors, and sewing needles in case any more repairs were needed during the night.

Oh -- this is just AMAZING! I love it. We will have to go out sometime and play dressup. Just so I can see you in it Live&InPerson-like. )

Certainly. It needs more events to attend. My clothing has more of a social agenda than I do.
