The brown dress: finished product

Some of you may have noticed that I didn't give an update on the outcome of the brown dress sewing project (previous posts here and here). Well, I had nearly finished sewing it at the last update, and in fact had it completed in time for the wedding, when I realized two things ( Read more... )

Hi!

It is INDEED lovely! The great gathers make it look so much more full and luxurious and lively, too!

Hooray for last-minute sewing - did I tell you that I finished sewing elastic onto my shoes only about an hour before I walked down the aisle?

I think 'and one frantic last minute alteration' should be added to the bride's litany of 'something old, something new...'. My SIL decided, minutes before the wedding, that she needed to have the roses snipped off the back of her dress right now or else (she's very sweet and reasonable, really, but the roses became a focus and had to go).

You looked so beautiful and happy. Your dress was just fabulous, both in the original corset top and with the later addition of hockey jersey.
