Not much time to write because I need to get some money (walking around with a dollar is not such a good plan). But I thought I'd let everyone who has facebook know that I posted an album with pictures from the last two weeks... enjoy!

Today in Spanish class we talked about herbal medicines. They are pretty prevalent in Costa Rica. It was funny to be talking about all of these herbs in Spanish. I can´t believe that I forgot to write about this yesterday because it was my crowning achievement. I took the bus to school (about a 20 minute ride) all by myself. It was a really big deal for me because public transport is one of my biggest fears. It´s awesome that I feel comfortable enough in the city to do that. But i guess that fact that ( Read more... )

Last night was fantastic. My host sister picked me up from school but instead of taking the bus with me she picked me up in a car with some of her friends. Driving in San Pedro is crazy (like any foreign country), but driving in a car with a 20 year-old who is trying to text message while driving is even more of an adventure. So, I spent the weekend with my host family here in San Pedro (a suburb of San Jose). They are really nice but the experience is quite different from what I expected. Here, the host families are paid for having students stay with them so many of them have students year round. Because of this having an American in the house is not really new and ( Read more... )
