Siblings

I was reading my friend Andrew's blog after not checking in on it for awhile (blogspot, peh), and one of his blogs really hit home for me. It's a blog about his sister. Whenever friends write or talk about their siblings, I always become very still and present inside, because I have no siblings ( Read more... )

I've got a brother who's two years older than me. Besides genes and a shared history for eighteen years of our lives, we have very little in common. We don't speak much, not out of animosity but because neither of us feels the need to. I love him greatly and he's a constant in my life and somebody I can rely on. I'm thankful he's there and I agree that childhood would have been more lonely without him. I am lucky to also have a large number of cousins, one of whom lived with my family on and off through our childhood and is more like a sister or a best friend than a cousin. She is one year younger than I am.

I don't think I knew you had a brother! Is he as dashingly handsome as you? ;o) I have a large number of first cousins as well, though they are all in Alaska, and I could really only be close with about 3 or 4 of them, most notably my lesbian cousin. Yaaay double family!

In my most recent picture post, the last pic is of the two of us, if you want to gander at him.

I am grateful that I have such a great little brother. I am proud of him and I love him very much... but it's good to have a reminder that not everyone has what I have, and that I should appreciate my little brother that much more. :)

Loves you Jules. :)

I love your stories about your brother! And he should be proud to have a sister as loving and cool as YOU!

I've been told that I have several sibling traces around my aura, because all six of them are always with me

I remember having this conversation with you many years ago!

I know what you mean, though. I have a half-brother and a half-sister, but I was raised apart from them, so effectively I'm an only child. My sister lives in Anchorage now, so ostensibly we should be closer but for whatever reason I always neglect to call her...which is not good because I know she has a lot of drama going on right now.

Perhaps I will call her RIGHT NOW.

I remember it too! That was quite the evening. Hope things get better and less drama for your sis! Miss you.

Sorry to hear about Craig. That mustn't be easy. Hopefully at least Neil is proud of you for the man you've become, 'cause I am! :o)
