Date: Saturday, May 31st, 1879 Time: Late Morning Place: Kamiya Dojo, a.k.a. The Center of the 'Gumi Universe Characters: Kaoru and Tsubame Rating: G because it IS with Tsubame-chan!
I feel it. Vibes. A little angry, a little worried...very busy...cleaning? Hn. Well, this was to be my morning off, and I was so enjoying doing chores around the house -- cleaning the cat box, feeding the cat, taking out the garbage for Mama...
Those vibes. An excellent excuse to leave for the day. I wish I had a little brother to pawn these tasks onto! Oh well. Everything's done, except for the trash. I'll take it on the way.
Collecting the garbage bucket, I cry out, "Mama, I'll be back later!" and am on my way. Wrinkling my nose over the smell from the compost heap, I dump the bucket and head over to the dojo.
A hop skip and a jump later, the dojo looms in front of me. Knocking softly on the gate, I call out, "Kaoru-san, it's me, Tsubame!"
I had just slapped down the wet rag and am about to begin cleaning another row here when I hear a soft voice calling from outside. If I had been giving lessons in the dojo, there would be no way for me to hear, but the quiet of the morning allows me to barely pick up on Tsubame-chan's voice.
"Oh!" I leave the rag and bucket behind and run outside and towards the gate, which I hastily waste little time in opening for my young friend. "Tsubame-chan! Hi there! This is a pleasant surprise! Come on it!"
I step aside to let her pass on through and ask, "What brings you over here today?" I pause and think I might know what it is. "Um, if you are looking for Yahiko, I'm afraid he isn't here."
Flinching a little as the gate pops open, I smile at Kaoru-san and slip past her into the yard.
My smile widens as I hear Kaoru-san mention Yahiko-kun. "Hello, Kaoru-san!"
Pausing a moment to collect my thoughts, I look down, blushing, "No, I'm not looking for Yahiko-kun today. I...I thought you might like some company today..." My words trail off,and I curse myself for being so shy.
Taking a deep breath, and looking up at Kaoru-san, "Is - is that okay? I can go..."
Tsubame-chan is not looking for Yahiko? That's a surprise! Unfortunately my mouth moves faster than my brain sometimes, as it does in this instance.
"Oh... you and Yahiko didn't get into a fight, did you?" Now, AFTER I ask her, I realize my error as I wave both of my hands to try and dismiss what I just did. "I mean, it seems like you and Yahiko like to spend more and more time together these days!"
That isn't good either. No, in fact I think I might be making things worse!
"Mou, what I meant to say Tsubame-chan, is that I would love to have you around for some company!" I smile down at her and pat her on the shoulder once. "It is a little quiet around here today. How about I make us some tea and snacks and we can talk outside?"
