I happen to disagree with your statement that you are "not an easy friend to have." But that's because I agree that to be a "friend" is to have a mutually giving and receiving relationship. I.e., not a parasitic relationship.
Par of what I meant is that I often challenge my friends, not test -- challenge. I'm not always loveable and charming, and whenever possible/necessary, I call them on their bull. It seems to be a trend, at least with some of my previous friends, that they don't really want me to speak my mind. They've wanted a "biggest fan," and I'm just not the gal for the job.
Don't get me wrong, I'm behind my friends. I'm just not going to play cheerleader to every little action when I don't feel a friend has done something worthwhile.
