I found this to be a very well-worded, well-thought out concern. We have our similarities, Rick--despise me though you might. We're both stubborn, and neither of us like to settle. Which is why so many of my relationships have ended in disaster, personally.

Marriage isn't any more serious than you make it, I've seen people get married simply because it sounded fun, because they were sure they'd never find anyone else to spend their life with, and hell I've even seen it happen out of love. (I shit you not!) It just breaks my heart when people use it as a right of passage into the "next phase" of their life or some such nincompoopery. Being alone is shitty sure, but throwing yourself into something like marriage because you feel you have to...
do it when you absolutely want to, when you don't have to, when you know your life is going to be fine whether or not you do it.
