Went to a work conference where I ate good food and drank good drinks.

Kate is filling in a musical and gets to be a funny nun.

Just reviewed my posted goals for 2023 and accomplished almost none of them. Instead I had a year of my mental health declining, then a level period, and then a Quarter 4 that was professionally fine and terrible otherwise.

On the upside I fed gamers almost once a week for all year so that was something and did manage a short story even if it was ( Read more... )

Let's start with the obvious that 2022 was for me an improvement on 2021. Not perfect or great or even better than average, but a step up on 2021.
It also left me with enough mental energy to try to set some goals for 2023.

• Do three miles on a treadmill at six mph with a shallow incline.

So just organizing my timeline for our most recent "generational" weather event. Amherst only got hit with 26 inches which was fairly light for the Buffalo area. Mostly it was the winds that shutdown snow clearance and everything else. (For context our current driveway is about four car lengths long.)

I'm out of sympathy.

So there was the shooting in Texas and I know I'm supposed to feel bad about it. And I do feel empathy for the lost of the 21 families.
But I don't feel anything except rage at the community and the state of Texas.
How many people in Texas think, or thought, Sandy Hook was a false flag?

The trip back to MO went pretty well. I only had to bite my tongue to keep the peace a few times. Went to the zoo with mom, it was her first trip there since the pandemic started. Brunch with Jesse where I realized that her twins are school age now, but I did finally get to meet them. Did an excellent brewery tour (if you like beer and land in KC ( Read more... )

So I've been hovering around my goal weight and over my anger preference for about a month now. The weight thing doesn't sound like much, but I was ten under it at this time last year and I wasn't sick or anything. So two plans to start this week and one that might start next week.

So usually I try to have couple goals for the new year. But December kind of drained me of all ambition.

I'm left with: Do more weight lifting at the gym. (Not the most inspiring battle cry in history.)

We've made it to Christmas Eve. That feels like an accomplishment after the last couple of years.

I think it will be a good night. The day I'm fuzzier on. We'll find out.
