Although I would've liked to see Tom as Supes, I think that it's time for him to move on and be able to do other things. Being Superman in film would probably mean he'd have to commit another 10 years to the part.
The man can act, I really want to see him stretch his wings and show people that he can do anything and that he's more than just a pretty...PRETTY face. *Sigh*
It will so suck not having him in my house every week :(

I would LOVE to see Tom take on other roles, and I wish I weren't so nervous about him disappearing behind the cameras when Smallville is over. In my ideal fantasy, Tom would have been offered the Superman film (because he would rock the part and he deserves it), but he would have turned it down, and then announced that he was joining a completely different big-screen project, preferably as a sexy bad boy. :)
I love your 'ideal fantasy'. He was such a good Clark Luthor!!! But I also agree with rkc_erica that he should extend his acting chops to other roles and find success on the big screen.
Tom IMHO is the quintessential Superman. Still, I have to admit that this Cavill fella seems not a bad choice as far as looks are concerned. I don't know him.
I too am increasingly worried about Tom's disappearance come May. Let's hope the announcement you speak of comes to pass! :)
It's always my pleasure! I've never seen Henry Cavill in anything, but I've been meaning to check out The Tudors for a long time, and now I have the perfect reason to make it a priority.
As for Tom, I'm hoping he'll spread his wings and pursue movie work soon. Or TV work. Or just any work that puts him in front of a camera.
You already know how much I agree with you on that!
I'm disappointed I can't look forward to Tom on the big screen in a major movie, but I'm not heartbroken he won't be Snyder's Superman. Nothing I've heard so far gives me confidence in the film.
To me, Tom is really the ideal Superman.
I think so, too. I hope the Smallville finale gives us a last look at the wonderful character Tom has created that is rich with Superman moments. And by that, I don't mean the suit.
See and this isn't just my Tom bias showing, I fully believe that Henry looks too 'old' to play a young Superman. He says that he came to Nolan's attention while auditioning for for Bruce and he LOOKS like a 'Bruce'. Still as much as I wish him luck ( and this is coming from a fellow Brit) Tom will always be MY Superman
He looks older than Tom to me, and he's six years younger. :) I agree, he looks more like a Bruce than a Clark to me, but they haven't worked their movie magic on him yet.
We'll always have ten years of Tom, and I'm so thankful for that.

To me, Tom is really the ideal Superman. So, I'm happy to retire on his portrayal of the character for a while.

That belt buckle is awesome. I didn't notice it until I scanned the article.
