02 | VISUAL | OLD CITY SANCTUARY | THE TROUBLED IS HUNGRY

There's some crazy stuff going on. Hell, he was a lion. Seeing Lizzy, that's not really a new thing. It's painful, and it hurts, but Dwight's used to it. He's also used to getting things out the only way he knows how, and since there's no Troubles in Taxon (save for himself, of course), he's reached the only conclusion when it comes to him keeping ( Read more... )

Helen turned her tablet on to visual, despite leaving it on the arm of the couch. She kept her book in her hands, giving a brief look down every so often to the tablet. Excuse the poor angle?

"I'm not certain as to the permits but I certainly wouldn't say no to what you do find." So she was a little bit of a hypocrite regarding the hunting, but she was that generally anyway. And she knew it (just as long as no one mentioned it she was fine). As for wanting the meat? She'd prefer something fresh (or bought) rather than hatched - and she was wondering when she'd have to first do that. Hopefully not any time soon.

"Oh?" Dwight leans in, and there's--yup, there it is. The oddly toothy grin that's surprisingly warm. "I was under the impression you were against the whole man-in-forest deal."

It's a light jest, but then again, anything Dwight says that isn't immediately pertaining to a situation tends to be a light jest, if he even says anything at all. He really does want to hunt, even if it's selfishly because he just wants some real meat that doesn't taste hatched. Though speaking of....

"Right, I have to thank you. For the leg and letting me crash." Straight and to the point: "I'm making you dinner at some point."

Well he had her there, sort of. She wasn't against hunting per se, depending on what exactly was being hunted. She had very strong ideas on things that should never be hunted, certainly, but apart from that she paid no attention to it. Or rather made no comment on matters.

"I can't stop you from doing it should you wish." It's not really an answer but it is true. And she understood his tone, especially given the smile.

"And there's no need, really." Although she is touched. "I'd hardly throw you out after providing help." Besides, she was used to a fuller house.

"Whatever. You need some Maritime hospitality," He's insistent, now, and if Dwight's one thing it's stubborn. It's a trait he gets from his father, even if he doesn't want to admit it. See? Stubborn.

"Got used to livin' on my own," He shrugs. "It's nice to have a place like this. A huge place, anyway. Not used to that."

"Hunting permits? I haven't the damndest," Paul answers the question with a grunt. "Not that I was a very outdoorsy person even back home. Does Taxon have deer, then? I haven't been into the woods to check. Hi."

"Some do." He's shrugging, a slight twitch of the shoulders. "From what I've heard, anyway. Nothing wrong with a little calming activity." A light beat, and he tilts his head to the side, raising his eyebrows. "I'm Dwight."

Paul laughs a bit. "Hunting's calming? To each their own, I guess. Nice to meet you, Dwight-- Paul Smecker, I must have missed your arrival."

"Nah, I have a tendency to swoop low under the radar." It's come in handy, at least, and the small half-grin is genuine. "I wouldn't worry about it. Paul, right--you're..." He trails off. "From where?" Because far too many people are from Earth but not his earth, or so he thinks.

DG had met Dwight for the first time when he'd been in the form of a lion and, because of what had happened to Glitch, she hadn't really had a chance to talk to him since. When she caught sight of his post on the network, she decided that this was as good a time as any to fix that.

“For a long time, we didn’t have any official laws, let alone permits. You could check with the sheriff if you’re worried, but you should be ok.”

Her tone when she mentioned the sheriff suggested that DG didn’t think much of him and would recommend avoiding him if it was possible.
