Oh... my... God. Well, you have my sympathy 'cause "been there, done that." Our fridge died about 2 years after we got it. We had to call Sears, they came and replaced the thermostat, it was still under warranty, otherwise it would've been a couple hundred dollars. But it's been fine since then (about 8 years now). But I totally sympathize. On a lighter note, the guy who replaced the thermostat had coffee that morning with Dad's old friend Randy from JCP - he works as a repair guy for Sears now. ;-)
Yeah, it seems to be colder this morning. But considering all of the ice cream was liquid at 6pm yesterday, I'm not really comforted by this.
I can't get through to anyone at GE to find out if this problem is under warranty. It should be covered under the 5 year refrigeration system warranty. I'm trying to get receipt info from the HOA because of course they didn't give us any of that when we got our units. I don't know if they even have it. I also tried Sears website 'cause I figured they are probably an authorized GE warranty service provider but their DNS doesn't seem to exist anymore (someone's gonna be in trouble for that).
So... I've kinda got the week from hell going here. But amazingly I haven't cried yet. :P
Well, I know Sears is an authorized repair service 'cause I had them fix my microwave, but I didn't know if they were authorized to do warranty work. If so, that's awesome 'cause the GE guy that does work in this area is cool. :)
And GE... *sigh* Both website and phone system are set up so if your appliance is over a year old and you don't have a service contract, you get dumped on your ass. "Sorry, call someone else," essentially. Nevermind that I just want to know if it IS under warranty. I mean, I want to know what's wrong too so I know if it's cheaper to fix it or get a new one. OH! And the best part, when you press 0 in their phone tree it says "you've pressed an invalid option" so you can't just drop through to an operator.
