I also don't understand Pennsylvania's tendency to name towns after other states (Indiana, California...). Because of that we end of with ridiculous sounding college names "Indiana University of Pennsylvania". Sounds like a branch of Indiana University opened here in PA.
Then again, a town calling itself East Berlin changed the pronunciation of it's name during WWII. It's now pronounced East Bur-lin, with the emphasis being on the lin instead of the Ber (if that makes sense).
