Hey T_U, I'm wondering about the demographics here. Would you mind filling out the survey and posting in the comments? Anon commenting is on for this entry, so feel free to do this under the cover of darkness.
1. Employed 2. Five months (unemployed for six months before that, *shudder*) 3. MA Business Management & Psychology 4. I live in an INCREDIBLY small town. I was lucky to be able to apply for two jobs a week when I was unemployed. It would have averaged out to one a week or less. Again, *shudder* 5. I had 5 interviews (including the successful one for my current position) in my six months of unemployment 6. I searched for jobs mainly online and in print (it's an OLD FASHIONED town as well as a small one, go figure) 7. Don't. Give. Up. Talk to people. Forget having any kind of shame and tell EVERYONE you can possibly think of that you're looking for work - it really is amazing the leads you suddenly stumble across because someone you spoke to has a brother who works for a company where the PA's husband works for this other company that is looking for an xyz

1. Employment status? Unemployed (Just got back from Peace Corps)
2. How long have you had the status above? Less than a month.
3. What is your educational level? If you have degree/s, what are they in? BA in English.. want fries with that.
4. If actively seeking work, how many job applications/resumes do you send out per week, on average?
I've sent out 16 Total since being back a week.
5. If actively seeking work, how many interviews have you had since seeking work? NONE.. ZIP..NADDA. I just applied!
6. If actively seeking work, where do you look for your jobs? (i.e. online, in person, networking, etc.) Online mainly.
7. Any favorite job-seeking tips to share with the class?
Use your networks, and if you are not on Linkedin.. it's a GREAT resource for job-seekers. Also, get a leather legal binder and keep a portfolio containing your resume, recent written projects, and writing samples. Mine has grants, my resume, recommendations, and a writeup about a project I did that showed up in the local paper.
1. Employed 2. Monday will be start of my 4th week 3. BA in Sociology, and an MBA 4. When I was unemployed, I sent out oh, 10ish a week 5. Maybe ~5? 6. Mostly online - my school's job bank, some government job sites, etc 7. I guess don't get too discouraged. I was unemployed for a year and had almost no interviews when I finally got one out of thin air. They liked my cover letter so I guess make sure yours is a good one with no typos or errors in it, and make a good impression, try to stand out from the crowd.
