What the fuck kind of adults do that to children?!?!?!?
Self-righteous worshippers of Bureaucracy.

"How dare you let anybody have a free lunch!"

"Um, we don't know who is getting a free lunch until after they get their lunch."

"Well, take the lunch back, then!"

"Um, we're not allowed to give the lunch to anyone else after it's been served."

"That's not my problem! My problem is the BUDGET! Bow down before the ALMIGHTY BUDGET! For it tramples to the left, and it tramples to the right, and nothing shall stand in its way! Now shut up and do as you're told!"

The thing that makes me sadder is that not one of the adults present stood up for the children. It wasn't until well after the parents protested that anyone even bothered to apologise. I mean, what sort of place was it that... cafeteria workers were upset enough to be crying over it, while being cowed or helpless enough not to actually do anything?

I read it and a follow up article, and it beggars belief! Because they use an electronic system that is only available at the point-of-sale (or front end of the line) they systematically do this to children ALL THE TIME, it is just that this time some Jobsworth* from the district came along and made them do this to all the children at once, 40 rather than 2 or 3 ( ... )

I read about this earlier, and I have to say that the apology that was given sounds an awful lot like "Whoops! We didn't realize that this would be a horrible PR move, so we're going to pretend that we're sorry that we took food away from hungry children!"

These people are disgusting and do not deserve the privilege of caring for young people. It's not like they actually care anyway.

This is fucking ridiculous. I was on their facebook page earlier and just yesterday they had some post about feeding the hungry children and the free lunch program. Right. So today you look food out of mouths of hungry babes. That bullshit 'we have them milk and fruit' RIGHT BECAUSE THAT'S A SUITABLE SUBSTITUTE. And all they did was throw that food away!!!!! I couldnt have been a teacher there because I would have raised hell.
