I don't know

I have put the finishing touches on my novel synopsis, which I'm sure is still rife with syntactic errors despite my best re-...-re-readings. I ended up going with the ol' unreliable narrator in an autobiography twist, and I can't decide whether it's superfluous or integral. I also don't write comedy, but the subject is comical...so hopefully it is ( Read more... )

This is impressive. Allow the bachelor of arts to apply his critical thinking however:

Somewhere i picked up that short stories are about revealing character and novels are about developing character. So, i'd ask you how does Mr Dash Develop in your novel, i realize it's a comedy and this Idea of fiction is perhaps old-fashioned. But, a point to think about at any rate.

Also, i'd say your story really starts with Lilly showing up to warn Allan. send me a word doc and i'll mark it up if you want. I can't promise many syntactical, but there will be some snide comments and what little insight i can provide.

Well, I've decided that it will take the form of a quirky autobiography a la Pale Fire meets The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman. So, hopefully we'll get to see the devolpment of Dash through off shoots that have nothing to with anything. Unfortunately this doesn't really come out in a plot driven synopsis, and I hadn't really commited to the idea yet or else the synopsis would have been written differently ( ... )

Excellent idea with the crayons, i look forward to reading your manuscript. i'll of course liberally add drunken illustrations and salutations. how come i always have to be pound - though that is my hl2 sn.

Take a look at Saul Bellow's "Herzog" might be helpful. here's an excerpt:

"I know. You want to put me on a higher level and bring out the Orphic
element in me. But I've tried to be a pretty mediocre person, if the
truth be told. I've done my job, kept my end, performed my duty, and
waited for the old quid pro quo. What I had coming, naturally, was a
sock on the head. I thought I had entered into a secret understanding
with life to spare me the worst. A perfectly bourgeoiise idea. On the
side, I was flirting a little with the transcendent."

i meant to tell you about this sooner - but about two/ maybe three weeks ago at the tate modern, they had a full showing of andy warhol's 'sleep' film which ran nearly 19 hours long and - here is where it made me think of you - the entire thing was set to a series of pianists playing satie's Vexations. so though i didn't sit through all of it, i did find it to be oddly hypnotic and lost about 45 minutes of my day when i sat down to listen to a portion of it quickly.

i meant to tell you sooner. you should have been there. PS . what's your email? Address? hit me up sometime::: maygyver@gmail.com.

hope all is well.

VEXATIONS!!!
