I twist and I turn and I just can't get this painpainpain in my heart from reading your story. The way you worded his feeling, the paradox (such apathy and struggle) and god. It's just beautiful. And heartwrenching. Especially when it's Yamamoto, the sunshine (Ryohei is more like a... bomb than sunshine, really) of the family. My favourite is this line;

You must be crazier than you thought because his pain sets something curling in your belly; it’s attractive, and your self-control is unraveling in the face of it, of that overwhelming, pre-emptive grief.

It's as if he's appreciating the fact that he's able to make Gokudera miserable. Because he's important enough now, always have been, I think. Your Gokudera makes my heart bleed, makes me want to promise him hope and sweet dreams and Tsuna and everything good in the world.

It's getting long and all I wanted to say was... OMG YOU ARE BRILLIANT ILU INFINITY DON'T STOP WRITING. =D

I think ten years would have to make them grittier, what with semi-nuclear radiation and the general state of the 'new world.' Living like that would depress anyone. OTL

But it's so great to hear you think it's all in character; in my mind, they're a sad couple to begin with, considering Gokudera (and Yamamoto, to a lesser extent) are rather emotionally unstable.
