I went to London and all I got was this lousy appendicitis

May 18, 2013 14:45

I was midway through a bucket list trip and little did I expect something new trying to kick me into the bucket. I was meant to spend a short 2 days in London town and most of my sightseeing has been of two hospitals and a cemetary. At least I got to see the 20th anniversary revival of the play Beautiful Thing before the pain became unbearable ( Read more... )

Oh, Teary! Honey, you just can't get a break, can you? *shakes head* I have to start doing some serious voodoo to try and turn things around for you, hon! On another note, your trip and itinerary sounds amazing! So good to hear from you, my dear! *hugs*

Hey Kin,
I was typing in Matrix "bullet time" aka slowmo on this contraption while everyone was napping and then when I needed a nap 3 of the 5 women in my ward have had chatty visitors for the past 2 hours :p Painkillers are starting to wear off but have to wait another hour for next dose since it's capsules. But the good thing is that generally when the shit hits the fan in my life it's followed by a clean and air freshener - and a couple of cute young doctors ;) Although this is the first time I've been in hospital without a support person I know. But they say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

That's really such a terrible shame, poor you! (And nephew had a swollen face like that when he went down with appendicitis, some years back - in fact they thought it was mumps, decided his glands were infected, removed them, put him on STRONG antibiotics - which cleverly totally masked the grumbling appendix as well - and it wasn't till he finished the treatment for the strange swelling in his jaw and was off the broad spectrum antibiotics, that the APPENDICITIS that had been lurking, kicked in and involved an emergency op!)

Hey Sil, they actually referred me to an ENT specialist after my first trip to A&E and she dismissed mumps or gland infection and was way more concerned about my painful abdo. I just hope he IV antibiotics actually settles the appendix for good (although there's a fair risk of flare up again) but at least long enough to get back to Australia and not have to wait several weeks here before deciding on surgery or not :(

Eep! I'm glad England is being hospitable, even if you have to cancel other parts of your trip :(

I'm guessing the English bump up the hospitality a few extra notches when you look like a hunched chipmonk walking slowly
