I went to London and all I got was this lousy appendicitis

May 18, 2013 14:45

I was midway through a bucket list trip and little did I expect something new trying to kick me into the bucket. I was meant to spend a short 2 days in London town and most of my sightseeing has been of two hospitals and a cemetary. At least I got to see the 20th anniversary revival of the play Beautiful Thing before the pain became unbearable ( Read more... )

SO sorry that bad luck timing has hit you. Not fair cause a trip like that is suppose to be, well fun and worry free. Hugs to being in hospital without a support system...that is a scary time (been there done that) and it's just no fun on top of feeling lousy...but as you said what doesn't kill you, blah blah...course when you're in the middle of the hospital stay that's hard to swallow.
Hope they get it all taken care of and without surgery, and you are on your feet again, soon.

*hugs back* I hope your circumstances weren't as bad having been there, done that :( I wish I felt better this morning but maybe I just need some tea and toast. I think one of the antibiotics is starting to make me feel nauseous and the tramadol initially makes me so drowsy:(

Dude!

*in Monica Geller voice* I KNOW!

That said I forced myself out of bed and little did I know you can actually leave the hospital for a walk and something decent to eat. I can't say drink because their barista abilities leave a lot to be desired - bitter burnt watery coffee with an airy pile of froth on top. I decided to leave the fetching maternity gown behind while retaining my stunning personalised whit and red cuff bracelets. You'd think they'd at least put shells on them. Anyhoo, it helped consderably to get away from hospital smells and curtained vestibule for an hour. Maybe it will help kick my immune system *crosses fingers*

congratulations on choosing a country that has reciprocal healthcare this time around :D

internet access whilst travelling sucks, and oddly, the less you pay for the room, the better the internet plan.

Would love to follow your trip if you have time/access to post. Good luck and have fun ♥

re reciprocal healthcare country: well I had to have some luck somewhere.

There's only my trip the hospital to follow now but I'm guessing you mean S.Africa athough I can maybe take you on a tour of the hospital in between my hook ups with I.V. ;)

Hey Gael,
I think I my need to limit my travels involving flying to 2 weeks max in the future, no matter how I thought I'd gotten fit in advance. I still admire how people in their 80's and can barely walk are brave enough to travel! But I finallly got medical clearance and booked for home :). I hope everyone's travelling better than me, figuratively and literally x
