Wow. this is powerful. there were places that had me wincing in pain for Adam - his intent to take the beating without being in subspace - his conviction that he had blown it so badly that it was all lost and he was literally killing himself slowly over it. Then Brad's dawning awareness of his own broken promise. All of it so well handled. Beautiful work.
