I'm not really a technopagan, but I figured it was the perfect place to ask this question ( Read more... )

Not that I know of...but you should be able to knap a projectile point out of it.

What properties seem right?

Well, I'll try to take this as an honest inquiry, rather than a backhanded "do your own research, n00b" comment. But I wasn't asking how I felt about it, I was wondering if anyone -else- had experiences with it. :>

Even so... It seems very light, quicksilver, and "fast", which would make sense given the reason it was created. It doesn't exude it's own energy that I can tell, but absorbs other energy like a black hole and contains it, which is why I put it on my laptop to begin with. It's not very grounded, but higher frequency and refracted or scattered. It seems to be "fidgety", in a way. Other than that, I haven't really bothered to do any workings with it.

I didn't really buy it for anything other than as a mineral specimen and because it's so damn cyberpunk and nifty looking, silver being my favorite color and all. But when I got it home (or to work, actually) I got more curious about how it might be "used".

Still curious as to if anyone else has any, and what they use it for.

Oh, it's entirely an honest inquiry. I like your answer.

I have a few really big pieces and a wand looking piece. I think it can be used like obsidian or glass in terms of knapping and shaping.

As for esoteric qualities, that's a tough one. I don't think anyone has ever done any research in it. I can see it having effects on processing tasks - logic, memory, decision making, etc.

I also had the idea that it would be good for 'hanging' spells off of - charging it with a spell or intent and letting the silicon 'run' the spell for you. Sort of a magickal co-processor - an iWand or such ;)

metaphorge says it's very similar to hematite to him, or any properties that would be inherent to sand.

Personally, I find that it's good for mental stuff and it holds impressions well. The big difference I find with it is that it feels a little more alien than most other minerals, just because it has been processed a lot already. This can be refreshing when you've spent too much time in the mud.

Well, it is a single pure crystal, probably the purest thing you have seen or touched (finished, the lab tech of the 1930s would not be able to find anything but silicon, and your chunk has not been touched).

Not sure what that means to you.
