You can't just walk into a Pear Store with your receipt (or heck, they should have the record from the sale by serial number) and they let you in? I get why you as ''not Pear" can't do it, it'd be much nicer if you could tell the luser to go talk to Pear.

It works like this - there's a land of forbidden fruit where The Problem goes Bye-bye, arrr. Download, install, and avoid the BS. :)

It seems as though a lot of the time it's enthusiasts and non-Fruit professionals that really know what's going on, perhaps moreso than anyone except for Fruit's internal engineers who are NDA'd from revealing so much as their shoe size.

I totally empathize with your present occupational hazards.

I thoroughly loved that first bit.
The really problem customers we're getting are the ones who bought their Pear from the Best Buy down the road. Because they bought the thing from Best Buy, who may have had it a while, some of them who bought it last week are having 'nope, bought two months ago'-type problems, and they're getting really frustrated when we turn out to be Not Pear Corporate.

I might interject that you don't want to fuck around with the old folks at the bridge club - having played competitive club bridge they are very sharp and won't let a damn thing slide. :)
