Alchemist

"I weep for Narcissus, but I never noticed that Narcissus was beautiful.

I weep because, each time he knelt beside my banks, I could see, in the depths of his eyes, my own beauty reflected."

Today, almost by accident, I picked up Paulo Coelho's "Alchemist" to reread. I wept on the 2nd page of the foreword. And at the prologue. And at the first chapter.

I "discovered" that the most catchy phrase I have grown so fond of over the years in my "Maktub" (which was written after I read the book for the first time is practically second-hand, picked from the novel almost verbatim.

"What's the world's greatest lie?"

"It's this: that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what's happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That's the world's greatest lie."

"... The Soul of the World is nourished by people's happiness. And also by unhappiness, envy, and jealousy. To realize one's Personal Legend is a person's only obligation. All things are one."

"And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it."

For all of you out there, wherever you are and whoever with you are right now: I wish you find yourself in your life where you wanted to be, that you are not a slave of fate, but a master of you destiny.

Maktub. It is written.
