The Daily Show did a bit on the British elections as well. ^^
Wow, I wish we had town hall meetings like you all did. There are some things about the British political system which I really think we should have kept.
Also, I'd like to borrow the British media for a while. So we'd have someone asking ACTUAL questions.
The Q&A sessions are funny, because many of the interviewers and politicans have been on the same circiut for a couple of decades now - the banter between Jeremy Paxman and someone like Ken Clarke ( a former Chancellor) for example, is just priceless.
They showed clips comparing some of the town hall meetings. It's really kind of pathetic. You probably saw the ones with Tony Blair, where people are calling him a liar to his face and telling him to resign. And then we have the American clips, where Bush has made sure everyone asking questions likes him, so people are saying things like "I'm thankful to have you as President" "You're doing such a great job"
*headdesk*
And then Stephen was reporting from London, just you know, generally mocking the British system. We mock because we love. ;)
