Once bitten, forever smitten

My musical guru and otherwise annoyingly compulsive friend, Ann, who sometimes acts as my manager, gave me a call a few days ago. A European label based in London is very interested in hearing my 'demo' when it is completed. I offered to send them the last CD I released (which was a live bootleg of a New York show), against Ann's advice, and they ( Read more... )

Thank you, sweetheart. The sarcasm only comes into play when my parents are involved.

Television is a wonderful way to get your music out. I've had a boost in album sales because people think they heard me in this advertisement or that movie and wanted to get more in depth. So maybe it wasn't me they heard, but in this way I'm still gaining a wider fan base.

Good luck

So people say "I think that was Björk" and that's how you gain exposure? How amusing. I don't think people are sell outs at all if they put their music in a commercial. More people watch TV than listen to the radio, I think. Most of the people I know found out about your music through word of mouth. That's how I found it anyhow.

It seems many people think I sang the theme or something to that effect for the new LOtR movie, which I didn't. It's quite silly.

I don't call it selling out at all, though I myself never watch tv nor use my radio very often.

I found out about my music at a very young age and have been a huge fan ever since

That is wonderful news on the studio time.

I wonder when it turned acceptable to put music in commercials. I remember the days when this was very taboo, people would call it "selling out." It is an interesting medium, and for folks like Moby whose album may not have been heard much otherwise it makes sense. Actually, there are some lesser known names than Moby making careers out of themselves by selling music to commercials. Is it just me or do most of these appear to be car commercials?

I am looking forward to seeing you, I miss you.

I remember when it used to be very taboo. It still is in a way. Of course now it is becoming more acceptable, or maybe people just don't care. The majority of people who care now are critics and hard core musicians. I'm not opposed to it, obviously. Even if these people don't get the commercial success, say Moby did, they will at least get some sort of cult following, don't you think? It's not just you either, mostly all of them seem to be in car commercials. Then you have Hoobastank who did Mountain Dew, I believe.. and they are now putting music in these electronics commercials.

I miss you as well. I'll be near by soon.

You get used to not sleeping after awhile. Your body adjusts. I used to be able to go off three hours sleep a night.

My body has mostly adjusted to no sleep. Sometimes I'll sleep 2 hours, or none at all.. and every now and then I can sleep for 12 hours straight. I think it's all these drugs that keep me in order and not falling apart.
