My computer at least allows me some privacy and the ability to limit my interaction. I know how that goes.

This really made me think - I know sometimes in my life, the gestures can seem mechanical, other times not so much. It depends on the situation.

Are you reading this because you want to or because you think you should?

I would guess that it's a bit of both for most people. You read the entries because you want to, but the reasons why people want to are as varied as the people themselves. And, for a lot of people, there is a sense of obligation, as well. It's part of a competition, read because you should give others that courtesy, but that's just another form of "wanting to read," I guess.

Personally I read and comment because I would like to have readers who comment on my stuff, too. I think of LJI as a give/take thing where we all have the opportunity to improve ourselves and meet some interesting folks along the way.
