Japanese Hair Straightening

Jun 20, 2003 10:09

My mom and I have been discussing about me getting Japanese Straightening done to my hair. It costs $ 600 and $ 150 for the touch-ups. It's supposed to keep your hair straight for 6 - 8 months. It takes 6 hours !!! It will last me most of the school year , so that definately helps. When and IF i ever get a job , I will pay for most of it and she ( Read more... )

Amanda, I knew you would understand ! In your icon , your hair looks like mine when it's blowdryed. I've always wanted super sleek beautiful straight hair , it's so much more mangageable , plus I personally think if your hair is done , ya always look nice. I think I'm gonna save up

thats sooo bad for your hair. the touch-ups almost never work, they do but they end up drying out your hair soo much. i have seen like4 girls with it and they looked like drag queens cuz it was like a brittle wig. haha. buy a flat iron (a good one is like 100 bucks) it straightens your hair much better and quicker than a blow dryer.

I think you should keep it curly. If you get it straight, some days you may want it curly. And it has to grow out right? Just lay off the blow dryer for a couple of months, and build up back the strength of your hair. Then you can blow dry, just not as often as before. It is alot of money too. I've seen it done before. It really looks nice, but I mean I bet your curls are beautiful anyways. Well, thats just what I think. LOL.

My curls aren't that pretty. There are two types of curls 1 { springy curls - like slinkies } 2 { ringlets look liks s's} I have the second one. I can never make them look pretty , that's why this might be the best for me. I can't blowdry my hair that good either :: so ashamed :: hehe

Well have you ever tried mousse and gel and stuff. I'm sure that might help. About blow drying...a flat iron would help more. It's faster and easier, and there's things you can use to not let hot things dry out your hair. Thermasilk (shampoo) works with the heat. Also, the John Frieda products are good. They help make nice curls. Also, they have products that protect the hair from drying out due to blow drying and other things. Ahh I sound like I'm good at this stuff...I'm really not, but I'm just telling you products that I've seen work. LOL. <3

Your best bet is to look into it, and talk to some good hair stylists about it that way you get the benefit of the doubt. Instead of someone just taking all that money, and you not being happy with how it turns out..you know? Hair is very important, and if you screw it up on $600, I don't know about you..but I'd piss my pants. I'm actually lucky because my hair only stays curly if I air dry it, but then I have to put bella gel in it.

What I learned to keep the frizzies gone--
1]. When your in the shower always have a good condiotioner, after your down comb your hair still in the shower, so all the knots or gone.
2]. When you get out, get a good recommended gel for curl, and scrunch it. When your done scrunching, flip your hair twice. Then add some hair spray.
3]. Let it air dry, be careful not to ram into anything where your hair will get entangled:)

If you do already do those things, and they still don't work talk to a good hair stylists, and they should hook you up. Believe me, my hair gets really frizzy..I'm like Ms. Frizz:< My ( ... )
