Hey Ladies, I have a dilemma, and if you could help me out, it would be most appreciated. Currently, I live with my parents, but I can see that arrangement steadily deteriorating because my mother is resenting me living there more and more. I start school next month, and I need a job so that I can move out, but until then, I'm stuck at home. I'm ( Read more... )

No, I'm off to college. But working at the daycare center sounds awesome. God for you!

I just have to say that right now I can totally relate to you. My baby is due next week and I'm planning to live with my parents. The thing is, we really don't have the room. I know my parents really don't want me here, but at the moment I have no where else to go. Even with a job I probably can't afford to live on my own because NY is incredibly expensive. I really just don't know what to do. My boyfriend and I are still together, but he's not being much help in this area. His parents are total assholes. I'm taking a year off of school so I can work and still spend time with her. I'm worried about not spending any time with her next year though. I wish a way to help you. I completely understand what you are going through. I hope you find a way to work everything out.

That's GOOD, do you know how much it is a credit there? Do you already have your HS diploma/GED? My comm college charges $156/credit (YIKES, I hear it is high for a comm college) but Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance something or other (PHEAA I think) pays for my entire tuition, but I had to prove I have a GED. Then there's Stafford loans that I usually cancel because I don't need them. Loans aren't all bad, they give you financial credit. I also have some other federal grant that I've come to understand is from the gov't to help out low-income students (although $150 isn't exactly too helpful IMO when it doesn't even pay for a credit). Lastly, my community college has a fund of their own, I'm not too sure of the details but I think it is from the college through the state, more money. I didn't have to have my GED to be eligible for it ( ... )

I honestly don't even know. I have to talk it over with the counselor when I get there. The program I want to go through is to become a certified nurse's assistant, but she told me that I wouldnt be able to get financial aid for that. I guess I'll find out if theres anything else I can do, but it's all so frusterating!

In my state (MI) you can apply for aid living with your parents as long as you are CLEAR that you are on your way out. Like you go to apply for rental assistance and after you are approved you go and get the apartment etc. They will check up on you here to make sure you are doing what you say.

Good luck though.

Whoa, that's even more helpful as I live in MI too. Where do you go for this?

how many years in college before you graduate? how is the situation at home with your mother, resenting you etc. as long as your parents are not doing harm to your baby, i will suggest to eat the "humble pie" and bear with her resentment, use this to motivate you to do better in school and graduate, get out to get a good job to support yourself and your child...jm2c...take care, hope things will work out well for you!! *hugz*

I'm just starting this fall. It's just a local comm. college and I plan on taking classes when I can. No, they're not doing pysical harm to her, but theres an obvious strain on the entire household, so I'm looking for options.
