Summer thinks he looks too pale. His eyes are fluttering open and shut, like he doesn't have the energy to stay awake. Her fingers tangle in his hair and she tugs until he looks up at her. "You're not going to do anything stupid like die on me are you?"

Adam's gasping, trying to breathe through the pain, but he still manages a wry smile. "Of course not, darling. That'd make you mad."

Summer wraps her arms around his neck and kisses him desperately.
