You know my thoughts-- =) Considering I'm planning on getting one on my 21st b-day.
If this isn't a whim, and IS something you've given more then a moment or two thought too, then I say go for it. But a tattoo is not something that you should get randomly. I honestly think people should plan them out, and give themselves time to back out if they have any, and I mean any, doubts.
And from what I've learned form other people, in location, you may wanna get it in a spot easy to cover and where you won't see it every single day of your life.
See, I've thought on and off about getting a small black (gothic?) 1-3in cross on my ankle for a couple of years now (only now the thought of maybe an inner wrist wouldn't be so bad has crossed my mind) and it's probable that this is just a recurring phase and I'll change my mind in a few months.
On the other hand...I can always wear shoes and socks, or a band-aid, lol.
I am totally coming with you to get your tattoo. :-)
Lol, the ankle isn't a totally bad place--you just have to realize, if you get a job, you won't be able to wear heels or nice shoes, skirts, dresses, unless you're wearing a band-aid.
I'm...not so big on the wrist. Callie got one on her wrists, a japanese proverb, and if I'm not really looking...It looks like she cut herself xD
Lol, sure... I'll be going to the place at least once before to get it drawn...
okay, upon examining your posts and laughing at the ridiculous religious "don't get a tat 'cause it's bad" ones (i know, i'm a horrible person. i can live with that) and then coming across this one, i think you should get it. it's a tiny black cross, who cares?? and anyone who tells you that you'll be "held back" career wise because of it is nothing more than an ignoramus!! now, i could understand having some rockabilly tattoo on your fore arm or a huge skull with flaming eyes somewhere visible holding you back because although my culture accepts and loves it, not everyone is ready to accept such things. but a black tattoo of a cross (which i assume is in celebration of your religious beliefs and how strongly you feel for them) won't matter!! do you have any idea how many business men and woman have similar things and NO ONE care?! LMFAO!! it's just a cross, no one will say anything, you'll be fine, it won't hold you back and anyone that tells you different is an idiot. if you get it, good for you. if not, it's your choice. either

See, that's my big fear is that I'll get it, and then 10-15 years down the road, I'll change my mind and I won't have the money to get it redone or removed. So for now I'm holding off.
See, I get confused sometimes, because I read sites like that. And then I find sites like this and I'm not sure what to think. *shrugs* I'm not entirely convinced it's a sin, but I don't want to necessarily drag down a brother or sister that it might be a sin for.
If you don't want to look at it from the Judeo-Christian perspective (and if you ask me, that site you cited looks like it wants to be a "Christian" version of a Jedi mind trick, but it can be refuted by someone who knows their way around the Bible) then try it this way:
Let's say you've saved up all your money and you want to go to Paris to the Louvre, because all you want to do is spend an afternoon basking in the glow of the original Mona Lisa. You've spent all that money on the airfare, the hotel, the additional modes of transportation and the admission fee to the Louvre (not to mention any other expenditures on the whole French-to-English language barriers you might have to overcome, if you didn't already know French) and you walk into the gallery where Leonardo da Vinci's most famous work of art is located...
...only to discover that someone's taken a Sharpie to it and Mona Lisa now has a goatee.
Ask yourself: Did Leonardo create his painting for that purpose?
i agree with you, brotha. they are in no way satanic and it is a well known fact that christians and catholics alike both love to explain things that they aren't comfortable with as being satanic, evil and down right bad. i'm not saying everyone should get one, it's not everyone bag but even if it's not, they shouldn't be considered evil. everyone does not have to like it but they should try to understand and respect it.
being an avid enthusiast in this area i can be of some help. first and foremost, have you thought about it?? the biggest mistake anyone can make with tats are walking in out of the blue and pointing. tattoos and piercings are part of a sub culture and you can't just get whatever. a tattoo is more than just a picture. it's a representation of you, your personality, your ideals and beliefs. so you should put a fair amount of thought behind it. what you want, where you want it, the size and detail of it, whether you want color or if it would be better suited to your idea in grayscale. i have several plans for a chest piece, sleeves and even some on my abs that will be wicked awesome!! i've designed them, i know what they'll look like, i've made all the decisions. i'm just waiting on money to get them piece by piece. anyway, try thinking about it and if you need help or have an idea you want to expand upon, let me know. like i said, this is my area of expertise as both an artist, a tattoo bearer and as a person who has given many people

But then, it took us nine years to get curtains up in the living room. I'm not into committing to things cosmetic.
