Honking is normal

Entering into Cambodia, you are struck first of all with how freaking dirty the place is. The soil is a sort of red-clay, and in the heat of the day it becomes a fine red grit in a matter of hours. Even the constant raining of the rainy season did nothing to ease the dust.

Also had a thought today, probably related to having read this post, on historical body-type preferences. In matters like this I think to Darwinian Evolutionary Theory (which I find can pretty much explain most things, honestly). Well, except recently. Recently, we've been fucking around with natural evolutionary processes by essentially saving lives that would otherwise be lost - to disease, genetic defects, and stupidity. We've essentially outsmarted it, in a lot of regards - rather than naturally eliminating undesirable / unhelpful genetic traits, we are preserving them. This preserves the race... but reduces the quality of our genetic material, overall. It also allows us, as a species, to engage in behaviours that would otherwise get ourselves weeded out of the gene pool. (As a gay man, I guess this is a blessing in disguise? But that's one example , and could explain a) tendency toward homophobia ie. "encouraging" men to be attracted to women, and b) an argument that homosexuality is not (solely) genetic - or, if genetic, ( ... )
