Why is it when a white child is attacked/raped/hurt/institutionalised they may put forth "valid" claims for compensation which result in the pay out large sums of money years later.  When it is a black child who tries the same thing claims are dismissed and it is considered to be "just another compo claim by people who get it all ( Read more... )

I would be interested to know if any of the "Leaving of Liverpool" children have been successful in pursuing claims - that to me has always been the closest parallel to what was happening in a lot of the Aboriginal communities.

Even in the cases where the parents did give up the children willingly - and there were cases - the facilities provided to 'better' the children were so crap they'd have been better off in the bush.

I believe that some of the people from England who were moved out here as children have recieved compensation.
It is certainly a similar system that initiated both schools of thought

Mmm... institutionalized and systemic racism. Gotta love it.

Me, I'm hoping that the facts of the past will now be able to be acknowledged and brought to wider public knowledge. Education and a Free Press's always a very good answer. And in the current political climate, it's a blessing that history's muffled voices will hopefully be more widely publicized, as the Culture Brownshirts lose their entrenched position backed by The Establishment.

Cultural Awareness work is being done by many groups now and the stories are slowly spreading
