So sitting here at home in the cold today surrounded by busy work people. It is the sound of people putting up our Solar Panels. It is exciting and goes well with the double glazing and the planned hydronic heating. I feel so latte sipping, lefty, hippy, scum ( Read more... )

Yet with building VCAT has decreed that developers can build on old rubbish dumps and clear high significance grassland while councils bear the brunt of the flow on effects

Already I have learnt that my house is fail for making the most of the natural light, even with the big window in my office I have the light switch on all day. We are doing other things with compost and worm farms. New insulation and doubleglazing and curtain pelmets are all on the wishlist.

I think drainage is also going to be a problem...

Skylights a possibility? I love them I have to admit.

I have.. not quite the opposite problem but close - lots of light, but need to shade better in summer. Winter's not as much of a problem, but late afternoon/evening the back of the house heats up quite a bit. Need blockout blinds on the back room for starters.

We have a skylight in the bathroom that is badly done and looks shit. Its a possibility I guess. But really for now looking at options to conserve heat.
