Jamie has started singing along with some of the music class songs. He's still not talking, but anything with a "doo doo doo" or "la la la" section he'll join in enthusiastically. He'll also chime in with the words he does know: a "mummy" or "daddy" where they come up in the song - usually well in time (as in, he's not just repeating the word ( Read more... )

Mum and dad left yesterday after a two week visit. jennunplugged always says her son shows big development spurts after trips, and I saw a similar thing during mum and dad's visit here. For our two, I suspect the additional attention garnered from having two extra adults in the house all the time will have helped a lot ( Read more... )

Today I saw Katie do two new things. Firstly she actually did some bona fide crawling: belly off the floor, one knee then the other, etc. Usually she moves around with a belly-flop that seems to come naturally to infants but which Hip-Hop dancers have to practice to achieve. We're all still ill. This time it's a bad cold with a cough and sore throat. Adrian has been off work for three days now, which I think is the first time since we've been together that I've known him take three days off in a row (for illness, that is). We have had weeks and weeks of illness here, plauging everyone in the house except Jamie, who seems to have the immune system of the gods. Today marks the second day Jamie has gone without a nap. Yesterday he had had a very disturbed night (which had also been a trend up until last night) and eventually slept in until 8:30 (rather than his more typical 7:00).
