Joesia was a tall Puerto Rican and sat down across from me as I sat in the Restaurant working on some practice quizzes on menu items. He started conversation abruptly like a muscle car dragging off of a start line ( Read more... )

Clue #1 you aren't really from around here: I've never heard the term "Pac North Westerner" before. (To be considered a real Puget Sound area resident, you'd have to live here a long time and eventually: be able to identify a geoduck and correctly pronounce its name; develop a strong preference for one range over the other; become a supporter of either WSU or the U; be able to differentiate between mist, drizzle, sprinkles, showers, partly cloudy and partly sunny; consider Columbia and The North Face designer clothes; laugh at people who can't pronounce Sequim, Puyallup, Toutle, Tenino, Okanogan, Selah, Sedro-Woolley or most everything in Skagit County.)

Clue #1 you aren't from Phoenix: too pale/high-strung.

Clue #1 you're a server: those damn menu tests! How's your job going?

Though I don't know how to pronounce about half of the things you mentioned, I do know the difference between rain, drizzle, mist, partly cloudy, and partly sunny; I do own Columbia apparel and about ten sweaters, three hoodies, and four scarves; and support for either WSU or the U is a sports fan's opinion of a "real" inhabitant of the Pac North West, so I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. As for living there a long time- well, lets just say that's something I'd like to work on :). So, with that said, let's just say that I'm half way there according to your criteria. :p

The job's goin' well, though I will LOVE it when these damn tests are over and I can just do the job. I need to start making money now so I can pay shit off. The sooner I pay stuff off, the sooner I'm outta here (here= mom and dad's definitely, the state possibily).

How's the summer goin'? Internship treating you well?

First of all, you've gotta stop with the Pac North West stuff. It's just the Northwest. One word. No reference to the Pacific Ocean (and if you did live within view of the ocean, you'd say you lived on the coast. Not even the Pac Coast). The only "Pac" reference you'll hear is PAC-10, but since you don't like sports, you can just ignore that. Anyway, once you've got that Northwest thing down, you can move on to (I'll spell them phonetically) Skwim, Pew-AL-up, TOO-dle, Tuh-NINE-oh, Oak-uh-NOGG-in, SEE-luh, See-droh-WOHL-ee. Also, you will have to choose between the Olympics and the Cascades as well as between WSU and the U. You don't have to watch the Apple Cup, or any other game featuring either of the schools, but come Apple Cup time, you've got to be able to partake in the jokes ( ... )

Thanks for the lesson, and good jokes! I've heard the some of the same ones between USC and UCLA. One could say that the south stole it from the north, but I don't really care where they came from--they're good jokes :).

Glad to hear that you're doing well! After working every night for the past six nights, I finally have this afternoon/evening off and Sunday and Monday off. I don't know what to do with myself! :P
