I quit

Jul 07, 2005 00:30

I'm not typically a quitter. I'm probably the most hard working people that my friends know; but tonight I quit my job at The Macaroni Grill, not even a two weeks, just said that this was my last night. Why? Two words: Anxiety attacks. I never got anxiety attacks before, until now. Shortness of breath, emotional breakdowns, the works. It took ( Read more... )

That's huge, dude. And you didn't quit, you provided yourself with a new opportunity to succeed. How's that for poly sci BS? ~Daphne :)

You're no slouch or anything, but the hardest-working people I know are Val, Callie and Misty. :)

Too many menu tests? ;) Nah, just wondering why you could work at Gordon Biersch so long and then so intensely dislike working at the Macaroni Grill.

Maybe you should just get out of AZ. Seafair is going on right now (though the highlights - the hydroplane races and the Blue Angels - won't be here until August) and there's not a cloud in the sky.

Your guess is as good as mine. templeolove July 9 2005, 18:13:02 UTC
Why so long at Gordon-Biersch and not Macaroni Grill? I really don't know. I think it had a little something to do with the fact that Gordon Biersch had a little more professionalism to it (i.e. not doing Christmas in july and "expressing myself" with flair in the form of a tie). That's the only thing I can think of outside of the hectic atmosphere. I really don't know, which made it hard to explain my resignation. All I knew was I HAD to get out of there. The building itself made my attitude plummit and had me fighting for breath. Go figure. I don't really expect people to understand.

I definitely would love to get out of here, but it doesn't look like that'll happen anytime soon (that is unless I get a fabulous job offer in Seattle that'll entice me to leave despite credit card payments yet to be made). We'll see.

I would love to feel 70 degrees again and not have it be midnight at the the time. I wish you well. I'm glad the internship is going great. You deserve this opportunity. :)

Nick,

As much as it must have sucked for you working there, I'm glad that you got out when you did. When I worked at Z57 a few years back I had similar problems, the place just blackened my soul. But I, stupidly, kept going for weeks upon weeks, and it was terrible. You'll find something better, there's no doubt about that. After all, there's only up from here!

I hope that you'll find a new and better job soon. How are applications going for DC and whatnot?
