So I wasn't too sure I would enjoy having to travel to the Loop everyday for work.  The traffic (pedestrian and automotive) can be a pain in the ass, and if it's during rush periods, the train can be very crowded.  I was also concerned about having to leave work late at night alone.  Despite these things I've found that I enjoy it so far.  I like ( Read more... )

There was a shooting on Broadway at Briar today, right around the corner from our apartment, and we were on a bus right there when it happened.  There was some kind of traffic backup, so everyone was watching out the windows to see what was going on when all of a sudden we all heard a loud pop.  I wasn't sure it was gunfire at first, but then ( Read more... )

So I got a job at a French/American restaurant called "Sweets and Savories."  I start there this evening.  It sounds like it's going to be really hard.  There's a ton of stuff to memorize and I'm no good at pronouncing French words.

I had a job interview at Peet's Coffee and Tea in Lincoln Park today.  It was one of the longest interviews I've had, but it went really well.  The manager and all the employees seem really cool and friendly.  They've given me free coffee twice while I was applying and interviewing.  I've been there three times now.  I'll probably only work there ( Read more... )

The move was a success!!  It was a little difficult, but luckily not as stressful as I thought it might be.  Part of that was due to the fact that Jesse's mom was nice enough to drive with us and do all of the city driving.  I hate driving in big cities, which is why I sold my car and now use the buses and trains ( Read more... )

For real this time.  Jesse and I just paid deposit and first month's rent on an apartment at Belmont and Lake Shore Drive in Lakeview, Chicago.  We are super excited.  We move in on July 1.

I don't post on here much anymore, but I thought this warranted at least a short entry.
