I don't know, I think the conclusion that there are no grand unifying themes to human existance (which I agree with) is seperate from the idea that making a mark is not worthwhile.

Afterall, the lack of an apparant unifying theme should in theory liberate you to approach life however you want, and regard others in kind.

Nihilism doesn't have to be a purely negative perspective.
