I'm pretty sure I'm going, if I'm not in Switzerland, that is, and I'm totally psyched about seeing everyone there. I've visited Chicago three times before, and Navy Pier would be a fun place to go hang out (not once have I yet made it to the amusement park area, though, just the shopping area). I don't know about it being a good place to have meetings, though, unless we could get a room/patio area booked. I like the idea of Millennium Park better for that.

I really hope things all work out and I can be there!

I hope you can make it, too! Though between Terminus and Switzerland, that's a pretty tough choice. =)

Yeah, I know! I might take a job in Switzerland, which would entail relocating and be a big pain. So I don't know if it's going to happen, as there are a lot of obstacles at the moment. But if I'm in the US, I'm planning on going to Terminus!

You know I'll help out with whatever, dear. Just point me in a general direction with instructions lol.

And I will attempt to remember the name of that restaurant on Navy Pier I went to as it was quite atmospherically fun.

Thank youuuuuuu ♥

The restaurant I'm thinking of has a very peculiar name. I think it has the word 'dog' in it.

Strike that. It was GOAT. *has searched*

Here's a helpful list of all the restaurants at Navy Pier: Billy Goat Tavern | Bubba Gump | Charlie's Ale House | Capi's Italian Kitchen
Dock Street Cafe | Haagen-Dazs | Joe's Be-Bop| Riva / Riva Cafe

It was Bubba Gump. Billy Goat tavern would be cool what with Aberforth. xD And Charlie's Ale House = Charlie Weasley. Now I want to write fic where he owns an ale house and sex with a man. Because what else would be the point of that? And I think Joe's Be-Bop is one of those things that sounds good in theory, but not in practice. It sounds familiar, and I have unpleasant associations.

Oh, and cross Riva off any possibility list. That's the kind-of expensive place. My parents and I go there when we go to Shakespeare at Navy Pier.

I like the picnic idea too. I can't be the only one attending on a budget and it's a great open space.

The only problem I have with Navy Pier is it gets so crowded on the weekends, and it's so family orientated. The Children's Museum is only an escalator ride away from the food court, and I worry that our discussions might be too lewd (slashy?) for all the suburbanites with their strollers and juice boxes.

If you need help with anything let me know. I live in the city and work part-time downtown.

That's all very true. I like the picnic idea better now, too. =)

Yay, another townie! Since you live in the city are you still getting a room at the hotel?

No, I live so close to downtown I can't really justify paying for a room.

I actually live in Evergreen Park, so it would just be annoying having to hop on the train every morning at an ungodly hour when I could just wake up and be there, haha. Is there a possibility we could borrow your kitchen for the baking of cookies and/or brownies for the meet-up? It could be a fun slasher project, haha. Totally up to you! =)

Yay! The picnic idea is really fabulous -- they were SO FUN in London, and a really great (and cheap) way to do a meet-up. I would definitely be good to help on anything else being done, goodie bag assembly, etc. Let me check if dracofiend is coming to the con, because she gave everyone these awesome goodies at Sectus, just for fun -- she must be brought in on goodie bag making! She haz skillz :P

What's the day that everyone will be arriving? Wednesday or Thursday? An afternoon picnic before the programming kicks off would be nice. If we want to stake our claim on time and location lightening fast, maybe the Snarry fen can work around US, LOL.

And after this post, do you want to do an intro post thing? I can do the coding for it and post. And we can do a tag for "intros" so everyone can find out who is going and read through info when they stumble upon the comm later. *gets excited* Also, we may be able to talk gossymer into making a spiffy layout ( ... )

I know some people are coming in on Tuesday, because Wednesday is the Wizard Rock Concert basically all day... some people aren't getting in until Wednesday morning for that, though, so Tuesday is out. Thursday before the arrival dinner is a possibility... there's really nothing going to be going on that whole afternoon other than check-in. Once we recruit more members to the community, we should do a poll to see who would be able to come then. =) Also on Saturday there is an hour break for lunch, and Millenium Park isn't far from the hotel, but I feel like we'll need more than an hour for the meet-up. Right now I'm thinking Thursday is the best idea ( ... )

Actually, I think I'll make a poll about having the meet-up Thursday afternoon right now... I like the idea of having a solidified time early on... that way, no one can say they made former plans... we'll be the former plan... =)

I'm totally in with the picnic idea too!

I can also pitch in for goodie bag assembly etc. I'll try to think of something to contribute, but at the mo' I'm drawing a blank. Fortunately, I have a few months to figure something out.

Yeah, it's a bit early to start planning the goody bags extensively, haha. In time, in time.... and thank you for offering to help! =)
