I'm really excited for it. I like the idea more and more, the more I think about it! And thanks for offering to help... soon (well, in a couple of months, most likely) we'll start in on the goody bag stuff. =)
I'm good at getting people together with my loud voice. heh. This is going to be so much fun! Can't wait to meet you all, and to be BACK IN CHICAGO! *loves*
Oooh good! I will totally need you to be my voice then, because I can't make my voice be loud even when I'm trying really hard... good thing I make up for that in my organizational and planning skills, right?
Perfect! You plan, and I'll round everyone up and get their attention. Have no fear!
At Sectus, we had the snarry and the h/d meet-ups in the same room - AT THE SAME TIME! *strong words* I was running between them like a mad woman, doing the introductions over in the H/D corner, and then running back to the snarry fold in time for the draws. :D crazy Good times.
That's why I think it's a good thing to double check with the other ship groups, just to make sure there's no overlap, although that might be tricky.
We tried a pre-registration picnic and a closing picnic at Sectus too, and it was awesome, but twice in a row, there was some other event going on in the exact location listed as the meet-up place (that no one knew about). So the HP peoples relocated, but late-comers and people too shy to ask were left out of the loop, and missed the meet-ups.
Chicago, baby! I can't wait! I've missed the city so much!
Once the results of the poll are in, I'll definitely post over at slash_terminus and let them know what we've decided.. hopefully we'll have our plans made so early that there won't be any mistaken overlaps!
So since you're basically my better half, I'll be around all the time and will absolutely help out with everything. Im gonna find goodies to put in goody bags and everything. Wheeee I can't wait!
Having served on the host cmte. for the NLGLA's Lavender Law Conference here in Chicago last year (incidentally at the same Hilton) I would like to assist, if possible (my travel situation for August is yet to be worked out, however). I live (and work) downtown (LSD and Randolph, for the locals
( ... )
Wow, thanks so much for doing this research for us! I was already planning on making some imprompu, smaller touristy plans, and this information will help immensely.
For those that might have trouble walking to the Park (I don't think it's more than a few blocks) there are free trolleys that run up and down Michigan Avenue, as well as the CTA bus system (I haven't been on a bus in a long time, so I'm not sure how much the fare is these days - but it's definitely less than $2. If you ask for a transfer card, you can use it for 2 hours, I believe.)
