unpretty

Having a not pretty day. I'm breaking out _really_ badly...since being de-Pilled, it strikes me as it's worse than it was pre-Pill. That's not fair. My hair is also frizzy and won't get done until next week, and I'm feeling really unpleasantly pudgy...I should not let myself miss two NIA classes in a row without forcing myself to work out at home. When I went off the pill, I got more breakouts, too. Some types of the pill will make acne better...apparently, mine was one of them.

Yeah, I knew mine was...before we decided on the Pill option I'd been asking my doctor for something just for my zits. I swear, though, I wasn't breaking out this badly BEFORE...not since, like, sixth grade...

my little sister had gotten very bad acne recently-
we basically went and got her a skin care regimen from the store-
the two things that worked the best were straight tea tree oil and benzoyl peroxide stuff- just as long as it wasn't too strong. 5% is good.

I have some tea tree oil at home, I can try that.

I have an astringent that L used to use that I'd been using but I think it's just making me break out worse.

I hate it when I get like that, too. It's just plain uncomfy.

Drinking lots of water makes me feel a little better.

*nod* I am still having a hard time staying properly hydrated, despite the BEST! BLADDER! MEDICINE! EVER!!!
An entire lifetime of "Okay, you have a recital at 7pm. It's 3...don't drink anything else today" is hard to undo, you know? Drinking enough liquid still doesn't _feel_good_ to my body, even though its effects (yay, I have saliva!) do...I feel uncomfortable and painfully full very quickly, unless I've already gotten nastily dehydrated. I'm making progress there, it's just slow...

best anti-acne regimen EVAR:
USMC boot camp: work out most of the day, drink lots of water, eat nothing but healthy food. Shower daily and get just enough sleep or possibly a little less.

next best anti-acne regimen:
Wash face at least twice a day with appropriate cleanser (depends on your skin type. I use a cream cleanser with an exfoliant.) Use acne pads to wipe off remaining gunk. (Benzoyl peroxide breaks me out, so I use salicytic acid pads instead.) MOISTURIZE. Drink lots of water. Avoid stress.

Sometimes (once a week is what I hear, but I just do it when I feel like it), after washing face, use a mud mask. The mint julep one is wonderful for acne and inexpensive. After washing the dried mask off, use the acne pads and moisturize as usual.

If you just have a couple spots, you can just put the mask on those spots, let it dry, and then leave it on all night. In the morning, wash and proceed as usual.

I'm back on the pill, so I'm clearing up now.

#1 is pretty much impossible for a variety of reasons (physical limitations, desk job), although I am working on working out as much as I possibly can because I also feel like a gigantic pudgeball. A gigantic pimply pudgeball. *sigh* Already explained #2, and #3 is the one I have most control over, just need to plan and use the self-discipline. #4 and #5 I automatically do...I can't really oversleep, never have ( ... )

Queen Helene Mint Julep Mud Mask: the two big chain drugstores carry them, as do many of the big grocery stores. The package looks like this, and you can usually get it for a couple dollars.

As to moisturizer, how do you feel about meeting my Mary Kay lady? What works for me may not work for you, and she has a test thingie she does to figure out what your needs are. Some of those moisturizers out there on the market are very expensive, and if they aren't a good match, there's no good way to get your money (or time, or blemish-free areas) back. : \

I think I can find that. Thanks!

Hrm. I'm only a teeny bit experienced with Mary Kay. My roomie was a Mary Kay rep for a while and I only experimented enough to find out that they make no lipstick colours for people with melanin. Moisturizer is a different matter, though. What the hell, I'm game. :-)
