So many of the books that I get recommended, if that grammar makes sense, aren't as interesting as fan fiction I've read here. I'm looking at you, 40 Shades and Twilight...aside from which, once you find your bulletproof kinks, fanfic almost ruins you.
Good fanfic is much better than a bad romance novel. Fifty Shades of Gray is bad fanfic porn written for a silly YA series. I don't see the appeal of either.

I am loathed to admit it, but reading actual books isn't the priority it once was. I'm either thinking "but fanfic X did this, and did it so much better" or "I can probably improve on that ode to awkward phrasing." *tosses book in disgust*
