...still waiting for my car to be looked at, so it'll be months before I can afford it, but I can't stand living here. If it was just the paper thin walls, or just the landlord taking up to a year to fix things...if ever...but there's the people walking through the parking lot to the convenience store, there's people shooting at each other. I got messages on Facebook, a friend is going to see if I can get in her old place---filled with retired folks! Mercy me. I finally realized that I was muttering, "I hate this place." It's not the projects, but I've out my time in.

The last apartments I was in was filled with retired folks... quiet, friendly and polite. Ahh. Ever so much nicer than the previous place listening to the young couple across the way scream and swear at each other at top volume. Only so much you can stand of that before you go postal.

Aargh. Been there. I know it's a pain and it's costly, but it sounds like your mental and physical health are at stake. I'd vote moving.

Well, I'm glad you're moving out, onwards and upwards. I've been overwhelmed at the prospect of moving for years now, I hope you inspire me!

I used to have an apartment that had a 7/11 on one side (the dumpster was moved to just under my kitchen window to make it easier for the trash collectors to access!) and railroad tracks on the other side just out from my bedroom. I got tired of hearing diesel engines winding up and the police chasing people down the tracks at 2 am. When I heard "Freeze, Motherf****r, or I'll shoot!" I decided it was time to pack my bags even though the apartment was wonderful and the landlord great. Hope you find a new home soon.

Aren't neighbors wonders to behold. And such shining examples of all that is good in humanity?

She's never lost her head quite like that again. I also later offered to have them as a relief & gave them Halloween candy. Have follow up with Christmas...
