Farmer's market day, hit 2 of the local ones in Merriam and OP. What a crowd! Before I left, I watered and picked my own tomato crop - a couple of Dona and Carmelo fruits had good color - a few more days in the shade on the porch and they'll be ready. Grillt
It's hotter than a $2 pistol hereabouts, and I don't want to cook and heat up the house. So lately it's been a lot of yellowfin tuna-white bean salad and/or grilled cheese. Well, we've had over 3 inches of rain in 48 hours, and it's a rainy Monday once again. But I forgot to add to the rainy days, mondays and barbiturates list that antihistimines also get me down. Eggs Ackly
Excellent omelet today. The shallots were caramelized 'just right' and the eggs, cheese and bacon were in proper proportion. Tabasco added before the omelet was rolled..and the roll worked perfectly. I might as well go back to bed, prolly won't do anything else as well all day long, no matter how I try. -
walk, don't run.
Really nice spring day here in midwinter. Temps in the 50s or 60s. Went and checked Dad out of the nursing home and took him for a walk. He started off being cranky that someone from physical therapy wants to 'teach him to walk, I already walk fine' but I explained that with Parkinson's, there may come a day when he won't walk so well. One of the gals I used to date would call me 'her little cabbage' on occasion. She'd spent some time in France and no doubt some amourous frenchie had called her that. Hey, it's fine by me. Call me what you like so long as you don't call me late for dinner. But today, when you call me on time for dinner...we're having a little cabbage.

King Cake
I missed the official 'Feast of the Epiphany' earlier this week...Saint's feast days are not on my calendar, lapsed proddy that I am. But I did pick up a King Cake at the day-old bread store, for cheap. Enjoying some of the stuff I'm finding here.
Just read a nice discussion of 'The Watchmen' with a lot of commentary by Bill Willingham, author of 'Fables'. Since I just finished the 11th book of Fables this week it's sorta like deja vu all over again or something.
