So the election really hasn't made being in Japan easy.  I just wish I were in a place with other Americans around, so I could share this elation with someone.  Instead I'm here, trying to explain to Japanese school children what makes Obama so great (I asked them if they knew who George W. When I was in Japan, I eventually met some educated adults (mostly through teaching a private English class) that had appreciated Obama, although more for him being a world-uniter than for the racial importance that he brings to the US. When they asked me who I supported at home it was "Hillary or Obama?" The idea that there were legitmate Republican contenders didn't even cross their minds.
